Super quick update
over 6 years ago – Sun, Dec 17, 2017 at 12:25:30 AM

Things are super hectic around here at the moment but here's some news:

The manufacturers are sending me the second sample. They're still struggling with some of the details and don't seem to have gotten or implemented the messages I sent about changing the construction method slightly to make it easier to do. So I'm going to send them a couple of samples of different stages to improve it.

My mother made it through the surgery and is very slowly improving. It's a very long road and we're by no means out of the woods but it seems positive. I'm flying out to see her this week.

Handmade thulhus are progressing, my sewing helper has been doing quite a good job on the seams for the heads. The next stage will have them actually looking like thulhus.

I'm having to hand fix or recut basically all the minithulhu tentacles, but I'm about halfway through that and when I need a break from it I sew a few, so there's teeny tiny tentacles everywhere.

The standard size custom colour bagthulhu faces are almost all done. All but a couple of the standard size wings are done too.

Aaaaaaaaand... I ordered the custom D6s.

I'll try to get more info to you as I receive it :).

Quick update

Sorry to bug you again so soon but I wanted to let you know - I've contacted some of the manufacturers I talked to prior to choosing the one I went with originally, and I've asked for a quote. There's one that has a minimum order of 2,000 pieces, which is a bit beyond the budget at this point, but there's two others that have more attainable minimum orders. Still no word from the manufacturer I've been dealing with.

Also, I've almost finished handsewing the standard size eyes :).

Not as much progress as I would like, but progress none the less.

I'm going to confess to some growing frustration with the manufacturer for the main run. I've been emailing regularly for about a month now and not heard back. I don't want to be aggro about it... but I really need to get the main run moving and out to you lovely people.

So I'm going back to my shortlist of manufacturers from when I was researching the campaign and I'm going to investigate getting samples made up by at least one other manufacturer. This has the risk of slowing things down, but to be honest, I don't know what's happening with the original manufacturer so at least lining up a backup seems worthwhile.

In other news, the handmade rewards are making progress. I'm sitting amidst a pile of standard size faces, handsewing the eyes on. I've taken on another helper and gotten an extra machine. The workshop I asked to quote for the extra work hasn't gotten back to me, so I figure I'll just keep chipping away at it and if they suddenly pop back up again, awesome. If not, at least I'll be further along than before. Some of the totally custom rewards are even finished and will be going out soon.

It seems the forces of order and good are trying to stop us. They will fail.
